Professional bikers who have reviewed the updated XR1200 are saying that it truly is an upgrade and worth every bit of the higher asking price. It handles well on the road, has suspension that can be fine tuned to adjust to the size and weight of the driver and literally handles whatever the road has to throw at you. Even though the XR1200 did handle well, the feeling is that the XR1200X handles better due to this ability to adjust for weight.

Actually, one of the things that reviewers found was that because this bike that has a big Harley Sportster motor, it is difficult to remember that it is a street bike and not a racer. In light of this, the XR1200X handles better than expected and has much more power than you would expect in a street bike as well. The only real problem that is discussed with this and previous versions of the bike is that there is not enough street clearance. Given the amount of negative feedback the company received about that particular issue, riders felt that it would have been addressed by now, but it didn’t happen. Perhaps in the 2012 edition? (One can only hope!)

As far as pricing goes, it was the consensus that Harley’s XR1200X was well worth the asking price. Because of the major improvements in suspension and shocks, the increase is not unrealistic. Reviewers were prepared to take issue with the increase, but once on the bike, felt it was a fair price for a great street bike.
